• Advance Copy

To copy a feature (top and bottom cope) please start the Advance Copy tool, select the objects (using the top right corner button : Select objects), set the direction, distance between the copies and number of copies and press OK. You shouldn't be asked about any insertion point, cause the elements (copes) will be copied regarding any support beams for them.
  • Advance Copy

In order to copy connections, please use the tools : "Create by template" (for one copy) and "Create by template, multiple" (for multiple copies) found on the "Joints" toolbar. The second tool which can copy multiple joints, will first ask you for the source joint, and then the multiple input elements for each category.
Advance copy tool works for single elements, or a group of elements which are not linked as a joint. To do a multiple copy using this tool, you need to set more then 1 copies in the dialog, and make the pattern only using the provided tools (copy on direction, array, polar array etc.).
  • Clash between back-up bar and bottom flange for moment connections.

The moment end plate is not cutting the beam to the flange of the column as is intended to use this joint in combination with another one for a beam to column connection (e.g. : Clip angle ), and this joint will do the cut.
  • Blocks/ Special Parts in BOM lists

Material list template has the "Article" content configured in manylanguage installations. You just need to have the special parts in themodel, numbered and with a material assigned to them, and they willappear in the BoM list.
If you need other lists configured to show the special parts, go to BoMeditor, select a template and use the button : "Report Contents". Inthis dialog, check the content : Article.
  • Blocks/ Special Parts in BOM lists

You can have the special parts on bom lists. The content which shows it is called : "Article" and for example, a bom list already configured with this is : Material List. You can have the name of the special part, its weight, paining, quantity or other user information that can be configured for the part and the displayed on the bom list.
  • How to get material WIDTH always in inches (over 12") in the BOM

    Hello,

To display the dimensions or labels in inch only (even when you pass 12'') you need to change the unit setting for the drawing (or for the prototype if you need this change for all the drawings) to Unit Format = Fractional and
    Precision = 0.

  • Weld symbol overlapping

    Hello,

We didn't find a problem in how the weld text is placed in relation with the weld symbol. They are not overlapping, the weld text is placed under the leader line and the symbol on its right. The text can overlap the leader line if the weld symbol is set to small (there is a default which controls the weld size, called : "Weld symbol size". In order to investigate the problem you are referring, please give us more information about version of Advance Steel and language installation, and as well send us an example.

    Regards,
    Dumitru Berteanu.

  • Difference between AS 8.1 and AS 2010 in how the objects are deleted with the key "Delete"

    Hello,

This feature which is available when you delete an object in a detaildrawing using the "Delete" key was introduce in Advance Steel 2010, andit gives more flexibility in arranging detail drawings and customisingwhat to display in it. In AS 8.1, when you were using the "Delete" key,the respective element was hide. It was still on the drawing file, butif you had printed that drawing it won't appear in it anymore. Thisfeature is still available in A.S. 2010 but from the "AdvanceProperties" dialogue / Representation Type.
But, in A.S. 2010 the functionality of the "Delete" key was changed. Now, it will delete the respective element from the drawing. This meansthat :
    - if there were hidden elements behind it, they will become visible.
    -  all dimensions and labels which used as reference the deleted objects should be also deleted.
    -  views created specifically for that object (e.g. : automatic cuts) will be deleted.

The grey box that appears around the area where the object you deletedis just a reminder that the drawing needs an update for the elements tobe removed from the drawing, and the other modification (like hiddenobjects behind becoming visible) to take place.
To restore the deleted elements, go to "Advance view properties", checkthe option : "Restore user-erased parts" (located on the bottom of thedialog) and press "Ok". The detail will get an update after which theobjects deleted should reappear.

    Regards,
    Dumitru Berteanu.

  • How to configure drawing styles for Gratings

The problem is caused by a script which is not working properly for a grating in the process. You need to delete it.

Open Drawing process manager and go to the drawing style you need to use.

Open the properties for the "Drawing style map" and scroll to the "Model Object" : MP - Plate. Open the script option (the column for scripts is on the left of the "Model object" one and delete the whole script. In addition, please change the MP - Plate model object to : Mp - Grating (this model object is found in the "Main Parts" category).

Now this process will work and detail gratings.

    Regards,

    Dumitru Berteanu
