Starting with Version 2011, Advance Design can easily perform an intersection between two tubes.

As an example, we will create an assembly of tubes, one vertical with an outer diameter of Dv = 1000 mm and one horizontal with an outer diameter of Dh=500 mm. We want to model the intersection between these tubes.

To start, we will generate the tubes. To generate the vertical tube create a vertical linear element having the length of the tube, which for this example is 10 meters, and then use the "Extrusion of an element" command with the "Rotation" option activated. In the "Planar elements properties" section choose the type of material (concrete C20/25) and set the tube thickness (tv = 90 mm).

The horizontal tube will be generated the same way making sure that the two tubes do not overlap. The tube is created from the same material (concrete C20/25), it has 5 meters in length and its thickness is th = 50 mm.

The tube will be rotated horizontally by 90°, so that the assembly of tubes is obtained as shown in the following figure.

With tubes obtained as shown in the above figure, use the "Intersection tubes" command from the drop-down menu: "Edit" - "CAD" - "Intersection tubes".

The result of the intersection of the two tubes is shown in the following figure.
