Lawrence Puckett

I am trying to learn how to configure the quick
connections and am running into a snag. At first I
copied the AstorAddln.mdb file so that I could get
back what was changed, as a back up. I then
went and deleted all the connections in the User
category under North America and Beam to
Column. I then pressed the add button and
recieved the following:

Unhandled exception has occurred in a

continue, the application will ignore this error
and attempt to continue. Cannot set

I would like to work with the quick connections
and save time in modeling. How can I delete the
default connections in the User category and set
my own without running into this error?

We had a job for a company that requested DXF files of all the plates for their burn table. We used the DXF export tool and the creation of the DXF files went smoothly. However, when we looked back at the files before we sent them there were two identical copies of the part drawn side by side in each DXF, as well as other erroneous marks. Neither of which we've seen before when creating DXF files for customers. Are there any settings that control this and how can we avoid this in the future?

I need to add Nelson studs to some angle for
some embeded angles. These studs are 3/8" DIA
and 4" long. I can add them using the H4L-Inch
stud type, however the studs look like long
expansion anchors that are longer than the 4"
needed and in the BOM are given #internal part
marks. This is confusing to our clients and we
would like to have the studs to look like headed
studs and for them to be numbered without the
internal numbers. How would I accomplish this?

I have a project that needs a type 1 stair tread with
3/8" bolts. However, the macro pull down only has
sizes down to 1/2". How do I add 3/8" bolts to the
bolt size pull down for the type 1 stair tread?

I'm working a job that I need to add some concrete slabs and footers at certain elevations. I got one slab to be placed one elevation without any trouble. However, when I try to add more slabs and some footers, they will be created but will not be on the UCS. Not a huge deal, I figured I'd move them manually. They will move in the X Y plane but will not move in the Z plane at all. Is there a setting that I need to change in order to get the footers and slabs to move in the Z plane?

On the end of handrails, the top rail I need to miter. However, when I use the connection template or the miter feature in the Advance Steel Tool Palette, it only miters one section, not both. We've used a standard detail until recently when one of our clients asked if it could be changed as it is confusing to them. How would I go about creating the miter while leaving the handrail intelligence?

I have a few questions that we have come up with in a
recent meeting.

- Can joint data, joint loads, can automatically be shown on
drawings?

- Can anchors be detailed as single parts?

Also, I've tried adding an anchor to the system using the
method shown on your site, however, it doesn't seem to
be working. The anchor I create in the management tools
doesn't show up in the list. Is there another way to create
anchors?

Is there a way to allow for all the snaps, (Endpoint, Midpoint, Center, etc.) to be used when manipulating special parts in an Advance Steel model?

Can the drawing process MpWithConnParts detail the same single parts on more than one drawing? I have a project where the client would like each beam with its connected single parts detailed on their own drawing. I've detailed a test model using this process but each single part is only detailed once and on one sheet, even if it is connected to another assembly. Is there a way to have the single part detailed on each sheet with the assembly it is attached to?
