• User folder not showing on Quick Documents

To make Advance Steel to show the styles, processes and BoM templates from the User category in Quick Documents, you need to enter : "Drawing Style Manager" , "Drawing Processes Manager" and "BoM editor" and check the document from the user category and send it to Quick Documents (check the attached picture for the location of those check-boxes in Drawing Style Manager, and with a similar layout for the other documents).

  • Labelling a bolt comes up with the token for a hole not a bolt

    Hello,

To obtain the bolt diameter (or any information about the bolt) in a label you need to make sure the Drawing Style is configured to detail bolts, and not holes. Most of the default drawing styles in AS detail the holes on assembly/single part drawings, therefore the label will display the hole diameter. You can change the Drawing Style configuration from Drawing Style Manager / Style... / Object Presentation.
  • Sectional views are always 'A-A', Why?

    Hello,

The cut view names are unique per view and not per sheet, therefore when you have multiple details on the same drawing, on each of those the cut view naming will start from A-A. We have a feature request to improve this functionality and allow them to be unique per sheet, and it will be available in a future release.
  • Replicating a Connection... 'Unspecified Error'

    Hello,

On my side the moment end plate connections are copied correctly to the highlighted place. Please use the Advance Steel copy connection commands like "Copy by template" (_AstM4TransferCons) or "Copy by template, multiple" (_AstM4TransferConsMulti). This commands asks you first to select the source joint (it can be the joint box or an element created by the joint, like bolts, plates etc.) and then the target beams (column/rafter in this case). I've attached the model on which I've made those copies. If the problem still reproduces on your side, please send me the exact steps you make when the error appears.

  • Gusset Plate Connection-Duplication

    Hello,

I've informed the dev. team about this issue with the Gusset plate to column and base plate connection. The objects are exploded and doubled when the connection gets a single side angle section. You can remove those elements to fix the issue, because as long as they don't belong to the connection they won't influence its behavior.
  • Export/Import ASD to AS

    Hello,

You can use the CIS2 function to transfer models between AS and ASD, or the .sat (ACIS) export/import format to transfer solid objects (in Advance Steel those solid objects will not come as Advance Steel objects, therefore we recommend using the CIS2 for section mapping).
  • Replicating a Connection... 'Unspecified Error'

    Hello,

Can you please send us the model on which this issue reproduces (and highlight which connection generates it). To send the file you can use the forum "Attach" function.
  • A plate moment connection with a brace.

    Hello,

To obtain this type of connection you will need to use two connections : one to connect the rafter to the column (which creates the bolted plate on the column) and the other one to connect the bracing through a gusset to the column/rafter. To get the expected result, you will need to extend the plate on the column from the first joint control (in most joints similar to this one this can be done from the Vertical bolts arrangement controller inside the joint properties window), and then add a gap between the gusset and the column to avoid the collision. For the "Gusset plate to column and base plate" connection this gap can be added from the tab : General / Gusset plate parallel , parameter : 8.Projection. A negative value here will add a gap between the gusset plate and the column.
  • Problems with Management Tools in Advance Steel 2012

    Hello,

Please give us the following additional information to help us identify the problem on your side with GAM 2012 :
    - when does GAM give the error message ? When you click on the "Convert Database" button or when the convert starts ?
    - send us the GAM crash log. A link to it can be found with the dialog that appears during the error (bottom-right button is "Save log" which sends you to the folder where the file is).
You can send files by attaching them on the forum thread.
    - send us also the GAM log "GamLog.bin" from the folder : C:\ProgramData\Graitec\Advance Manager\2012

    Regards,
    Dumitru Berteanu
  • Setting Lot/Phase for Multiple Items

    Hello,

Yes you can edit the common properties for multiple elements at once (for example multiple beams, or multiple beams + plates in the same selection). The lot/phase (and any other fields available in the Naming tab) is considered a common property, so you will be able to realize the required modification.
The selection can be done either from the model space (by doing a multi-select on the elements) or with the help of "Search filter", if you have certain criteria after which the lot/phase is applied (like for example a lot/phase mark for all the columns HEA300 in the model, you can use the Search filter to search all the objects that have the section size HEA300, the model-role "Column", select them, and then through a multi-edit modify their lot/phase mark at once).
