• create new profile size

The section is saved in a new table called USR_sectionclass in the AstorProfiles database.

I have attached a step by step of how a user section will be added to the GAM. See attached  PDF document.

  • autoCAD service pack

    Hi Vincent,

Two licenses are provided: one license from Autodesk for AS and one license from GRAITEC for Advance CAD.

The GRAITEC Advance CAD license allows running Advance CAD without Autodesk Advance Steel.

These 2 licenses are not linked and can be theoretically split on 2 computers but in this case the user should supply an AutoCAD license or another Advance CAD license for allowing Autodesk Advance Steel to run.

If you are running AS 2015 with AutoCAD 2015 the Hotfix does not apply too you only to those users who do not have AutoCAD and are using Advance CAD along with  AS 2015 on standalone. See attached zip file.

  • Assembly mark renumbering (Advance Steel 2015)

    Hi Cruz,

Thanks for sending your model and drawings to: support.americas@graitec.com.

You have to change the token from DRAWING_NO to POS_NUM in the HYPERSTEELPAGEHEADER in order to have the Drawing No. the same as the part number.

You had also mentioned that you wanted to remove the lower case letter from your part number to do this, you have to remove the lower case letter by changeing your Process Method from With Drawing Number.

See attached file for print screens.

    Best Regards,

    Janet

  • Assembly mark renumbering (Advance Steel 2015)

    Hi Cruz,

I would like you to send your model along with the drawings to Support.americas@graitec.com so I can help you resolve the issue. What numbering process are  you using? Did you renumber or just did a forse update when the changes were made.

    Best Regards,

  • Cannot get special parts to show on erection drawings?

    Hi Patrick,

When you create a special part in a seperate drawing file do not make it a block. It should be a 3D solid. This is the reason you are un able to see your Special part.

To view the part in E drawings Use the: Drawing Processes>Cameras>All Cameras Overview PageFull ANSI-.....

    See attached file

  • Special Part not appearing on camera view in drawing

    Hi Patrick,

Parts used in the Advance model and in the structured BOMs or drawings that cannot be created from other Advance objects are Special Parts.

They must be designed in separate DWGs as solids and created as Advance objects with the Advance special part tool that is on the Tools> tools palette.

The insertion point must correspond with the origin of the file that it was created in or to the UCS origin being 0,0,0.

    1. Create the special part in a separate DWG and save it with a name that will appear on the BOM

    2. Go back to the model and select Tools> tools >AdvanceSteel Special part  icon

    3. Select the point in the drawing where you want your block (Special part)  inserted

    4. Take notice of how your UCS is placed in the model drawing

    5. Select OK when the warning dialog box appears

    6. Select the browse button and navigate to where you saved your drawing (Note: the special part should not be mad into a block)
    7. The special part is now inserted into your model at the point specified.
    8. To be able to view your special part on E Sheets use "All Cameras Overview" and adjust the dept.

    Hope this helps Patrick

    Best Regards,

    Janet

  • Creating Screw, Nuts & Bolts

    Hi Patrick,

You can download 3d objects off the net and import them as a special part in your model. If you need assistance with creating these objects as specific 3d items in your model, you can send me the specs along with your model and I can create them for you.

    Best regards,

    Janet

  • Eye Bolts - Custom Fasteners

    Hi Patrick,

For the moment there is a work around where you can download 3d objects off the net and import them as a special part in your model.

     Best regards,

  • Unknown Status

    Hi William,

This happens sometimes when you have a bolt list on your prototype that is for site bolts only. The bolt list is for field bolts and is not populated. When you open your Document Manager you have an “unknown” folder in your Details.

To permanently delete the drawing from the unknown folder:

    1.       1.Expand the unknown tab, select the drawing then select the 3 3 then the Preview tab,you will see an unpopulated bolt list. This list is for the field bolts

    2.     2.  Select the 3 3 again and then the Delete tab to the right

    3.      3. Select the OK button at the bottom of the window which will bring a dialog box prompting you to “Delete the documents

    4.      4. Make sure “Delete all documents” ischecked

    5.       5.Go back to the model and select the Document Manager from the Output tab

    6.       6.The Unknown folder is deleted along with the bolt list that was previously on the bottom of the drawing

See attached files for print screens

  • How to get material WIDTH always in inches (over 12") in the BOM

    Hi Mike,

I hope I am understanding you correctly Mike. It is possible to keep the “designations after the thickness and width. Check to see if the drawing template you are using is imperial. The drawing prototype should reflect the project template; meaning if you are modeling in imperial your drawing prototypes should also be in imperial.  I did some tests on my side producing a BOM for plates, materials, l used the Parts List-Imperial and chose the material list template. See attached screen shots.

    Best Regards,

    Janet
