If you recently upgraded your system to Windows 10, 2004 Update, you might encounter some errors which prevent you from successfully launching Graitec and Autodesk applications.

The reason is that the Windows Update affects Microsoft Access Database Engine, which is why it is recommended to reinstall the newer version. Bear in mind that not all computers will be affected.

Several problems and resolutions that we have found during these last few weeks are described below.

General error:

This is a general error that is encountered across a wide range of Graitec and Autodesk products, usually at startup or when using a tool:

Note: This issue was most commonly triggered in Advance Design, but there are a few cases of it appearing for Advance Design modules, PowerPack for Advance Steel, PowerPack for Revit, Autodesk Advance Steel Extension for Revit. It has also occurred on Windows 10 Home 1909.

Cause: The Microsoft Access Database has been affected by the Windows update.

Solution: Install Microsoft Access Database Engine 2016 Redistributable: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=54920

A specific issue for Advance Design modules:

Advance Design modules do not start at all.

Cause: .NET drivers have been affected by the Windows update.

Solution: Repair .NET drivers using Microsoft .NET Framework Repair Tool https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30135

Note: Make sure to install all the hotfixes the appear after Windows 10 Version 2004, as they include updates for .NET Framework 4.8.

A specific issue for Advance Design:
In Advance Design you receive this error when using the Launch Data Grid:

Fig.2 GridControl.mdb is not accessible

Cause: The Microsoft Access Database has been affected by the Windows update.
