Workspaces are CUI dependent and therefore the following FAQ applies:

Autodesk made the "Profiles" functionality obsolete.
Since AutoCAD 2006, Autodesk implemented the workspaces and recommended no longer using the profiles.
Custom workspaces must be created with Advance Steel running in AutoCAD.
If workspaces are created in AutoCAD (without Advance Steel), they will not be available when running Advance Steel.
To preserve a workspace between different versions of Advance Steel this workspace must be created in all installed Advance Steel versions and must have the same name.
Creating a custom workspace in one version of Advance Steel does not make this workspace available in other Advance Steel versions or AutoCAD.
The Advance Steel startup component always tries to set an active workspace after changing the CUI file, in the following sequence:
- First it tries to activate the workspace with the name of the active workspace in the last AutoCAD (of the same version) session.
- If this workspace does not exist in the current CUI, then it tries to activate a backup workspace in the Advance Steel registry settings.
- If this workspace does not exist in the current CUI, then it activates the first workspace in the current CUI's list of workspaces.
