In order to create a dome, first, we have to create two different diameter spheres. For example, if we want to create a sphere, we type "sphere" on the command line and we click on a point that will be the centre of the sphere; next, we have to input a number that represents the sphere's radius or diameter.

In this picture we can see the two concentric spheres (the black one, and the red one). The first sphere has a diameter of 15 meters, and the second one (the smaller one) has a diameter of 14.8 meters. That means the dome's thickness will be 0.2 meters.

We can also view the two spheres in the 3D visualization mode. Next, to get the dome, we need only the upper half of the two spheres. We will use the "slice" command and cut the spheres using the XY axis.

If the slicing is done right, we will get the upper halves of the two spheres.

How do we create a dome

We have the upper halves of the two solid spheres (we have two distinct AutoCAD solid entities). Next, we will use the "subtract" command, which allows us to get only one entity (the "contour") that has a thickness of 0.2 meters.

To convert this AutoCAD entity into an Advance Concrete structural element, we will use the "Convert 3D ACIS solid to structural" function from the "Advance Model" toolbar

After we use the "Convert 3D ACIS solid to structural" function, we select the newly created entity, and, from the drop-down list we must select the structural element type.

Now that we have the dome, we can use it to create reinforcement drawings, sections, elevations, isometric views, etc.
