In Advance Concrete 2011 you can create local section for structural elements.

Generally speaking, local sections are used to facilitate reading the plan view drawings, providing information on the feature characteristics (height, weight, thickness) of beams, slabs, walls and their position.

After the plan view drawing is created, local sections can be created on categories of structural elements. For example, you can select multiple beams or multiple walls, and then add the local sections. These cannot be added for beams and walls at the same time.

In order to decrease the work time, in Advance Concrete, you can select all beams from a level. The name of this option is Multicriteria selection and can be accessed from the Pilot.

You can see an example of multi-criteria selection in the figure. We selected Beam elements from Level 1.

After the elements are selected you can access the element properties from the Smartbar. In this window you can create the local sections on the Local sections tab.

The Local section tab includes two categories, Definition and Representation.

In the Definition category you can choose the view (drawing) in which to create the local section. Also you can choose the local section position, next to the drawing or in a location.

Other settings used to define the local section are for the position on the element.

The Center position option with 0 m value means that the local section is positioned on the middle of the element. If you want to move the section somewhere else on the element, you can choose the distance from the center to the new position.

Also, the local section can be moved from the model module, by selecting the central grip point. If you move the local section in the plan view using the "move" AutoCAD command, when the drawing will be updated the local section returns to its original position.

The Lateral distance option means, for example for beams, the lateral distance measured from the slab. The Length option from the Finishing tab means the segment length representation for cutting an element.

In the Representation category you can choose the way the local section will be displayed, visible objects, hidden objects and finishing.

In order to explain these options we will make the following settings.

For Visible objects we use the followings settings. For Definition of the cut visible edges we choose "Uniform edges" and for the hatch of the visible cut elements we choose the "Uniform hatch" Solid type.

For Definition of the uncut visible edges we choose "Uniform edges" and for the hatch of these elements is "No hatch" type.

After making these settings we click OK in order to finish the creation of the local sections.
In the following figure you can see a plan view with local sections for all beams, using the settings from the previous example.
