In Advance Steel 2011 the creation of project documents is much easier with the new "Quick Documents" feature. The required steps will be described on how to integrate your own user drawing styles, processes and BOM templates in "Quick Documents".

1. Drawing Styles:

Open the "Drawing Style Manager".

Choose, in "Drawing Style Manager" (DSM), your category/categories from the user's area. The right side of Drawing Style Manager displays your user drawing styles. By clicking the check boxes in front of the names, you can integrate your user drawing styles in "Quick Documents".

Using the same procedure you can remove drawing styles, which you do not want to use, from "Quick Documents" by unselecting the drawing style name. Therefore you can adapt the functionality to your own requirements.

To enter user text information for the drawing style, open the category, right click the drawing style, and then choose "Properties".

Next you can enter text information.

To save it, click "OK" and click "Apply" in DSM. To add a picture to the drawing style in "Quick Documents", create a detail by using the drawing style. Use ASDETPROTO.dwg as a template. Open the detail drawing and create a wmf file by using the AutoCAD export command.

Save the file in the following folder (Windows7, Vista):
C:\ProgramData\Graitec\Advance Steel\2011\Shared\Support\QuickDocuments\Details

For Windows XP use the following folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ Applicationdata\Graitec\ Advance Steel\2011\Shared\Support\QuickDocuments\Details

Open the "AstorAddIn" database by using the Table Editor in Management Tools. You can find the database in the folder (Windows7, Vista):

C:\ProgramData\Graitec\Advance Steel\2011\ User2\Data

For Windows XP you can find it in the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Applicationdata\Graitec\ Advance Steel\2011\User2\Data

Open the "DetailMasterTable" table and find the desired drawing style. Enter the name of the picture file in the "ExamplePicture" column without its extension.

2. Processes:
Open Process Management:

Look for your modified processes and choose them as you did in DSM. In their properties (right click) you can enter user text information. To add a picture to the process, first you have to create a detail drawing with the process and export it as wmf file, which you must save in the same folder as described above. Open the "AstorAddin" database in Management Tools using the Table Editor, and then open the "DetailProcessDefinition" table and look for your process. In the "ExamplePicture" column enter the name of the wmf file. Update Settings and the processes are also integrated in "Quick Documents".

3. BOM Templates

The creation of Bill of Materials, just like the creation of details, can be done by using "Quick Documents". This means that you can use your own BOM template without starting it from the BOM Editor. First, create an extract from a model using the "Creating BOM" command and open the BOM Editor from the dialog box. Choose and remove the used and unused BOM templates from "Quick Documents", as we did in DSM.

Create a BOM with your modified BOM template. Save the BOM as rdf file in the following folder (Windows7, Vista):
C:\ProgramData\Graitec\Advance Steel\2011\Shared\Support\QuickDocuments\BOM

For Windows XP use the folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Applicationdata\Graitec\ Advance Steel\2011\Shared\Support\QuickDocuments\BOM

After closing the rdf viewer, the BOM Editor is open again. Select your own BOM template, right click on it and choose "Properties".

Choose your created .rdf file in the dialog box; you can also add text information. Next click "OK" to save the modification.

Update Settings and all the adjustments you did are shown in "Quick Documents".
