This procedure explains how to change the contents of the title block in Advance Steel 2015. The same procedure can be used for earlier versions of Advance Steel but the file/folder locations may be different.
• Open the "logo.dwg" file and edit to your requirements (stay within the blue box). Create your logo using the drawing tools in AutoCAD®/Advance CAD® – do not copy and paste an image file (jpg etc.)!
• Save the "logo.dwg" file
• Locate the prototype you wish to edit and open it in Advance Steel 2015.

NOTE - It is strongly recommended that you ALWAYS back up of the original prototypes before starting. Make a
copy of the entire "Prototypes" folder (Ctrl-C), re-name the original folder (any name other than "Prototypes" –
"PrototypesBAK" will be fine) and then paste the original "Prototypes" folder (Ctrl-V). The Drawing Prototypes are located in the following folder: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2015\Shared\Support\Prototypes |
• Type "Insert" in the Command Bar or select "Insert" from the ribbon menu - Export & Import > Insert

• Select "Redefine block" to update the existing block definition when prompted.

• At the command bar type "Regen" – The old logo in the title block will update to the new logo.
• Delete the randomly placed logo.
• Save & Close the drawing.
The logo will have been updated and you can continue changing the rest of your required prototypes.
Creating Multiple "Client Specific" Prototypes
When the logo is modified in a prototype the logo.dwg is embedded in the prototype and the original file (logo.dwg) is no longer considered. To create multiple client specific prototypes the "Prototypes" folder can be copied and re-named – "Prototypes_Cust1" for example – and the prototypes in the new folder can be edited in the same way above to insert your clients logo, i.e. edit the logo.dwg file and insert using the insert block tools.
Advance Steel, by default, checks in the model folder first for a folder named "Prototypes". If the folder exists, those prototypes are used for creating drawings. If the folder does not exist, the system will look in the path C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2015\Shared\Support\Prototypes and use those prototypes – your default prototypes.
If you have created a client specific prototypes folder ("Prototypes_Cust1" in our example), the folder can be copied and pasted into the model folder and renamed "Prototypes". The client specific prototypes will be used for creating drawings.
Note – In the above example all prototypes that you use for the customer drawings must exist in the client specific prototypes directory. If a particular prototype does not exist, the prototype from the default path will be used instead.
