To splice a bar, use the Break a bar command on the Advance Reinforcement toolbar.

The lap dimension 'A' can be modified by selecting < New > from the Position drop-down list.

New positions can be entered in the last row. The first two columns are reserved for the steel grade and the bar diameter, specific to each standard. The next three columns must be filled in with the position name (e.g., Example), the material type (e.g., Concrete) and the lap length (e.g., 2 ft 6 in).

Notice that the Position name is now set to Example and the Lap (A) value is 2'-6".

From the Cut definition section you may choose the connection representation type between segments (Offset, Vertical, Horizontal and Coupled). From the Break points section you may select the bar segments positioning (Run out at one end, Run out at both ends, Run out in the middle and Select on screen).

After defining the desired representation, click OK to apply.
