I find that IFC export from Advance Steel does not output the partmarks, length and many other member properties. The members are output as Extruded geometry instead of as Steel Beams, Plates, etc.
This means that though the exported IFC model is visible in IFC viewers in 3D, it is not usable in software like STRUMIS or even to properly import it in other 3D steel software.
Please provide some resolution to this issue.

Hello,

AceCad Software has apartnership with our company and they will announce a new model link to theGRAITEC platform, please check below:

http://www.graitec.com/En/news.asp?NewsID=653

Probably starting with the nextversion of STRUMIS you will be able to use the GTC export from ADVANCE Steel toSTRUMIS and all the information you need, will be available.

Yes is true that the IFC formatdoesn’t include the length of the elements, but in the same time in thisformat one has the start and the end point of the element.  When the IFCfile is imported, the CAD program is able to calculate the length of theelement.

Regarding the import of the IFCfile in other 3D steel software, the entire structure is correctly imported andthe structural elements are recognized. For example you can check theimport/export between Revit Structure and ADVANCE Suite. In addition you caninstall our add-in, GRAITEC BIM Connect, which can be found on our website:

http://www.graitec.com/En/revit.asp

This new tool will allow you toimport/export elements/structures based on an intelligent file format.

Best regards
