As you will see in the attached picture, in joint design of "base plate joint" according to the EC3 code, the thickness of the base plate is taken as zero, although it is not.And also in joint design according to ASD code, a very very big plate thickness is calculated when checking against concrete bearing stress, in Case C (963.23mm plate thickness is calculated under 4.5 kNm moment, 98.4 kN axial force and 5.9 kN shear force).
